The best move now is to target depth guys to fill out the bottom six. Bjugstad, Domi, athanasiou, bemstrom, and maybe even a guy like Anthony duclair come to mind. The isles teams that made runs in the past did so due to their depth, and not necessarily the top-six. While this team has a better top-six than past isles teams, the bottom-six is a far-cry from what it was. If this team is gonna try and make a run, those are the moves to make.

You’ve got an all world goaltender. Defensive core that is easily top 5 in the NHL (imo) and basically all signed for several years at very reasonable cap numbers to boot; adding Horvat to the mix should be very exciting for that group.

With Bo, I think that takes pressure off of Barzal and opens up the ice for him as well. So if they are able to get both Bo & Barzal going, this could be a dangerous team.

I could see them making another move for an impact winger before the deadline as well.

it's not really a top 5 d-core, maybe personnel-wise but not in the way they're all actually playing. the defense is a schematic disaster which is part of the reason sorokin's stats are insane. if you make another move for a winger you're yet again mortgaging the future even further for a team that's still multiple games out of a playoff spot. even if they get in, they just have to play boston in round 1 and then what was it all for?

they pretty much have to play at a .666 pace to even make the playoffs at this point, miracles can happen but i'm not counting on them
