Proper 3rd Line

The Bjugstad trade I feel Arizona will get a better haul. Really you’re just giving them a 4th. Gaudette and Simmonds have no value. I would be fine with adding Bjugstad for depth

The Laughton trade. Well you’re certainly giving up a lot for him. Objectively, what does he bring to the table that Kerfoot doesn’t? Kerfoot is fantastic on the PK. He plays all over the lineup. Laughton does as well. But he is on a very weak team. So are his numbers in any category inflated because of this? He’s also been injured quite a bit the past few years. So taking him on for 3 years carries a higher risk.

Bjugstad isnt anything special, but I think Gaudette and Simmonds together have negative value.

PHI deal: about right, (depends on what you think of Voit to be fair: if you view him as a high mid level prospect than maybe), but its a deep draft and PHI would probably rather have 2 2nds for Laughton, or a 2nd and 3rd and prospect kind of thing.

And Kerfoot probably carries little to no value to PHI, as an expiring UFA especially with little time at TDL and Kerfoots NTC to move him for any value. Ultimately if this is done at the TDL, no need to move Kerfoot in this deal, maybe add a 4th instead. And your 3rd line becomes better with Kerfoot-Laughton-Engvall/Kampf/Knies

But Laughton would be a great addition for the leafs.

Partly true on Laughton, but the fact he plays a more physical game than Kerfoot and performs offensively on a bad team that cant score, probably means Laughton gets 40+ in Toronto. Also Laughton is a long term solution.

But really Kerfoot and Laughton together on 3rd line, makes a better 3rd line and both could play in the top 6 too.

I guess if we’re going just scoring wise, everyone needs to realize that Kerfoot has been .5 P/G all the way through his Leaf tenure. He’s also been fantastic in playoffs.
My point with this is is it worth giving up a solid prospect in Voit our 2023 1st and getting rid of Kerfoot for Laughton who maybe, maybe, is slightly better than Kerfoot? I say play the year out with him. S

Bjugstad would be worse than anyone on the leafs regular roster on the 3rd line and Laughton doesnt get anything close to that much in a return
