Description
Sandin isn't being sat again like they did last year. It also makes no sense and I hope by now Keefe knows not to play him at RD, so that means he comes back in on the 2LD spot.

You aren't taking Gio or Riley out. That means Brodie is likely going back to RD...

That means Timmins is out. My issue with that is Timmins has 8 points and is a +3 in his 11 games with the leafs. He's providing opportunities from the back and has a skill for finding the Leaf forward sticks in good positions.

Compared to the other RD here is Timmins:

Brodie has 6 points in 25 games (+6).
Liljegren has 6 points in 26 games (+16).
Holl has 6 points in 37 games (+9).

I know points aren't everything, especially from the defense, but Timmins has been solid defensively (sure a few mistakes but he's still young and coming off a long time with injuries). I just don't like the idea of taking Timmins out now.

So the logical solution is to move Riley to 2LW and keep the defense how it was before he came back!

(This is a joke, but I do really want to see the Leafs try it for a couple of games...)

What does everyone else thinks happens with the D pairings once Sandin is back?

This question was asked to Keefe after the last game and you can tell he didn't even know. Maybe 7 D and 11F. Hunt gets scratched.
Jarnkrok also is doing very well on that 2nd line lw spot since he has been added there. But I do think they should try Rielly on the wing before the deadline. Just to see if they have that as an option. I think it could work for sure.

It's not a completely crazy idea in my mind.

And the best of it, if Riley is their 2LW, they can keep PP1 as 5 forwards with him being in the LD spot lol

I also think benching Hunt at this point isn't a good idea. Having 7 D is just going to result in Timmins playing 8 minutes a game which at that point, don't bother making him dress for the game.

I don't think Hunt is the final answer for the Leafs 4th line. But I do like that he can bring something to that line.

Against Arizona in his first game with the Leafs, Hunt had 6 hits (more than double any other Leaf) 1 SOG (More than Kampf, Holmberg, Engvall, and ZAR as forwards) and 1 Takeaway (Tied for most with Tavares, Bunting, and Kampf) He also had 1 fight (Sure, he didn't do much, but he made a hit and fought his own fight)
All of this was in 8 minutes of ice time. 4 minutes less than the next lowest forward (Holmberg)

Against Colorado Hunt had:
1 SOG (More than Holmberg, Jarnkrok, and Tavares as forwards), 2 hits, and 1 block in only 9:26 of ice time. (2 minutes less than the next lowest forward Holmberg)

I think they need to keep giving him some minutes and slowly bring them up like they have been with Holmberg.

Gotta think Timmins is kinda the odd man out. But I hope they don't sit him endlessly until there is an injury. Like to have so the top 7 having some rotation in and out of the lineup....not for punishment but to keep players fresh and not stale by sitting.

oh jeez I hope not. I have made too many "Holl is not being traded posts" over the past few weeks.
