A guess the issue in a cap world, should McDavid make almost 30% more than the next highest player in the league. And when he comes to an offer sheet, what team could afford to sign McDavid (a contender) to a 13m a year contract.....no one. So I kinda think the Oilers are just bidding against themselves if the salary is over 11m a year. Of course, this might be Chiarilli's thinking after all Russell got 4 X 4. Who else was paying that much?
