Based on other cap dump trades it'll probably take a little more than Bear to get rid of Gardiner's contract. Maybe a mid-round pick thrown in too.

Gardiner is going on LTIR and the FO will be fine with that. We'll find out Bear's fate in the coming days I think, but future considerations wouldn't be worth it at all. Let's circle back on this same time next week and see how this ages.

Bear can then be dealt separately

That's a different scenario though; if Gardiner is on LTIR for the year then they don't need to move him at all. This one is using Bear to dump him assuming he's not on LTIR.

The point is not using LTIR…I know what you are saying and it’s likely the probable outcome, but the point is LTIR means you can kiss any TDL adding goodbye. If this can be done prior to season starting - $1.6m cap space can grow to around $5m-ish around the TDL.
