I rather doubt Silfverberg stays on IR, and unless Jones has some epic chemistry with the boys from New York he's not going on the 2nd line. Lundestrom is also likely down the middle this year and McTavish on LW.

Not sure Zellweger and Gaucher make the opening night roster but I do think Zellweger gets 9 games

If Zellweger makes it, he would play top 4 and Verbeek would need to trade for a big defenseman to pair with him because I don’t see much good coming with being paired with either Klingberg or Shattenkirk. I do think offensively watching JD and Zelly play together would be a lot of fun offensively, defensively it would be mighty suspect

Why is everyone so convinced Silvy is still hurt? If the season were a little longer he'd have probably made it back before it ended. I have no doubt he'll be ready to go once the season starts. And I would be SHOCKED if Gaucher makes the team out of camp. I don't expect this kid at this level for a couple of years. Stranger things have happened I guess but there's no reason to pencil this kid in now.

What's wrong with being paired with Klingberg? We didn't pay him all that money to be a liability out there. I mean, the same thing for Shatty. It's not like this kid will be given the green light to pinch every shift or anything. All of our vets are perfectly capable of pairing with a young d-man. We sure as hell shouldn't make a trade just to protect this kid for less than 10 games. If he's capable of handling the NHL beyond that, then the guys we have now are up to the task of playing with him.
