Trading Holl opens a big hole on the right that we can’t fill. And Kerfoot will not get a big return. No team has any reason to pay up for him. Teams that could use him have no cap space and the teams with space would only want to use him as a trade investment

I can't see a team which will be exceeding expectations if they finish 6th in the Pacific Division paying a second-round draft pick for one year of Alex Kerfoot. Moreover, the Ducks will want to give LW playing time to the recently-signed Frank Vatrano and developing youngsters Max Comtois and Mason McTavish, so there isn't really a lot of room for Kerfoot on the Anaheim roster.

I’d ask for a 4th from Anaheim for him. Then you can move him at the deadline and probably get a 2nd from a playoff team

That would be exactly my strategy. I prepared an ACGM with that exact transaction and Team Explanation a couple of days ago but haven't posted it yet.

Many Leafs fans seem to be ignoring that our cap situation leaves us in a really tough spot. We have to trade him to put a roster together. It doesn’t have to happen this month but it eventually has to happen. We need the money to hopefully resign Sandin unless he really wants Adam Boqvist money, then I’d rather trade him
