Description
Probably not realistic, but possible

I still think one of Pettersson/Dumo get traded and now with Rutta signing Marino should be on the move as well. Pettersson/Dumo for cap space and Marino for a forward. Could be Miller, could be Garland, or someone completely different.

With all the depth signing I am hoping that means we are actively trying to dump McGinn. With all the moves CAR made I don't think they can afford Niederreiter anymore. Dumping McGinn at least gives us a shot at him. Obviously Larsson hasn't officially been signed so that is just a guess.

Amazing top 6. Good defensive 4th line. Complete question mark for the 3rd line - although if Zucker can stay healthy I think it should be good. I think a lot of Carter's struggles came from overplaying too - he was 2nd line center, PP and PK for half the year. Let him just play 3rd line center with a dabble on the PP and he should be fine.

Defense should be interesting.

another guy to look at for Marino is Josh Anderson from Montreal. Gritty top 6 winger with a good shot. Big frame (6’3” 225) that can definitely throw the body and play the physical game (something we don’t have). 19-13–32 in 69 games this year. 28 years old and signed at 5.5 for 5 more years (until he’s 33). He has a M-NTC though I believe right now it’s a 7 team no-trade list and I think that list goes down to 5 in the later years of his contract.

He's an option that I have heard thrown around.

Personally I think it would be a very bad move. That contract is terrible. It's like Zucker 2.0

yeah his contract is a little “beefy” but he has a higher upside than Zucker and is a solid top 6 forward who adds a physical game that we simply do not have.

Does he though? I mean he's already going to be 28 when the season starts, not sure there is any upside to players at that point. We traded for Zucker when he was 28 too and he had performed a lot better in the years before we got him than Anderson has.

If you're comparing to Zucker now then maybe - but even that's close. The Pens lack of physicality is a little overblown in my opinion - we've been top 10 in hits every year for the past like decade.

I didn’t like the Zucker trade when it happened but I still think trading for Anderson now will turn out better than the Zucker trade, plus we’d be giving up less. And we might have high hit totals but who on our roster is dropping the gloves after Crosby gets hit dirty? Yeah we just got Archibald back who found his game in Edmonton, but he’s not a guaranteed NHL player. Anderson is like a Mack truck going downhill without breaks on the forcheck. He also can fight (16 career NHL fights). and he’s not just a goon he has a good shot and is a solid top 6 forward
