I think we’re better off waiting for the TDL at this point than making a hasty stupid move right now. But I’m going to try to make a Cup Contending team anyways.

First step: get a star winger. Patrick Kane will likely be dealt somewhere, why not us? If that price is isn’t right, sure fine whatever just make it happen. He has the playoff experience Lou likes to grab and he’d be fun to watch next to Barzal. And if anyone could fix our Power Play, it’d be him.

Next step: trade Bailey. Yeah, I know Lou said he wouldn’t do that, but based on his behavior today and the Romanov signing, my guess is he was really banking on Gaudreau. So now the plan may have to change.

Finally, we sign a cheap skill player for the third line who can replace Bailey’s production at a lower price.

Do I think this will happen? No. But this is what I would “attempt” if I were Lou and the owner told me I had to make a splash RIGHT NOW or I’m fired.
