Insufficient return for Gibson, especially with retention.

Ellers is negative value to the Ducks. He needs to be replaced with a B-B+ prospect without retention or an A-A+ prospect with.

They really are! I know McDonagh is defense but he has a similar cap hit that has a lot of years left and is declining just like Gibson. And McDonagh just got traded for cap space. They are buying out the NHLer they got in return and I guess a middling prospect. I doubt Gibson is pulling in an A+ prospect, a first-round pick and then an additional pick or prospect. No chance. Especially with multiple potential starters in free agency. I'm thinking Gibson right now is worth either a first-round pick OR a decent prospect, but not all three that seem to be a minimum from Anaheim fans.
