First you’d need to hope Nate Schmidt doesn’t have Detroit on his 10 team no trade list. He’s been wanting to play for a team that’ll compete for the playoffs. Now that hasn’t worked well and I wouldn’t be surprised if he wants to go to a new team to contend and Detroit hasn’t been a super attractive team unless if free agents want to be paid. I think he wants a cup contending team to play for. Then you have Scandella who also has a NTC and has a 7 team no trade list. Which also tells me he wants to compete for a cup. There was a reason why it was St.Louis he signed with in the first place because he wants to win. And Detroit isn’t that place to win a Stanley Cup in the near future.
