Description
Yes, I know this is beyond a reach in a few areas, but I figure it's cool to visualize either way. 2016-2017
*UPDATED*
Traded Merrill in an exchange that returned youth and/or picks.
Boucher still could compete for one of the remaining spots on the roster, otherwise involved in a trade.
Blackwood may be better suited in Juniors for an additional season, and that backup role be filled by a veteran on a 1 year contract.

Kinkaid isn't going to get a 2nd and a 4th, and you completely forgot about re-signing Reid Boucher....

Don't know if SS would want to come to NJ with that team. Admitting that SS is going to have trouble finding a good team that will have cap room to sign him close to what salary he wants. NJ,Carolina,Arizona have space.....would he want to go there?

You're right about Boucher, thanks for pointing that out. Depending on the season Kinkaid has in 2015-2016, I like his game and I think that's not a whole lot to ask for if the team who trades for him want him as a starter. But, there is flexibility with that, and whatever it is, it is. Also why I called the post "Wishful Thinking" lol

I doubt he'd have any desire to come to NJ, but cap space and a pre-determined core of defensemen make them a team that can draw attention. NJ tax structure on the other hand, I can't blame a player for staying away. I also dropped the ball and made it an 8 yr contract, should be 7 since only Tampa could offer 8. If he sees the team that is there as a strong defensive team that could just use a couple of scoring threats, he may see it as a viable option (especially if they draft Puljujärvi).

Do I think this will have a legitimate chance of happening? Absolutely not. But I just wanted to see what it looked like on paper either way.
