I doubt Habs make that deal without retained money on Varly. Beau isnt worth more than a 2nd and 3rd. Petry is worth a 1st+prospect and a roster player.

I don't think Forsberg did himself any favors come UFA with a poor playoff performance. $9.5x7 is equivalent to $8.3m on an 8 year deal. Rumor has it NSH knows they need to come in on an offer between Ryan Johansen ($8m AAV) and Roman Josi ($9.05m AAV). So the math works here at least
