Description
Hire a new coach from outside of the organization. Trotz might be the answer.
Get a solid RHD to pair with Morrissey. With the Severson trade, if NYR wins 2nd round then either the NYR or STL 2nd rounder become a 1st. NJD has choice of either this 1st or Chibrikov and a second. Winnipeg is overpaying but this deal comes with an extension with Severson. If NJD prefers Dillon over DeMelo then so be it but it would just be with a 2nd- no first and no Chibrikov.
Trade Schmidt and one of DeMelo and Dillon.
Not sure what to do with Stanley but a new coach might make him a solid 3rd line defender. I say give him one more year.
Harkins and Vesalainen might have to be traded possible to improve the bottom 6 forwards

Has Schmidt really been that bad? Honestly haven't watched very much of him since he left Vegas. Thought he would've been a steal for Winnipeg. Is it mainly the cap number?
Also why deal Demelo? He has been good there imo. Or do you just want a higher end dman who can play tougher competition?

Its mainly the cap number for Schmidt. I wouldn't move both Schmidt and DeMelo, as Dillon isn't great on his off hand.

I'd think they'd be able to get more for Dillon than DeMelo. Not saying hes better, but guys like Chariot and Manson are getting way to much in trades. A team looking for a big physical stay at home d man might pay up (not saying that's the correct decision). Florida/Carolina might actually be good options this offseason depending on their UFA situation.

The locker room is broken… you don’t fix it by ignoring it.
Keeping Scheifele and Wheeler means the same results next year… and probably worse as I think Dubois won’t sign long term and will be looking to leave if Scheifele stays. Likely other players will want out as well.
This team goes no where with Sheifele and Wheeler.

As for the trades…I’d do both on the condition Severson agreed to an extension, With the proper Scheifele trade and a Wheeler trade or buyout, Severson could be a good fit.
