Description
Needs to be addressed:
- Upgrades to Top 6
- Re-signing key RFAs like Ferraro & Kahkonen
- Making cap space to qualify Meier and bridge Merkley and Knyzhov when they are out of contract at end of 22-23 season

The trades I made for this ACGM kept future cap space and immediate wing depth in mind. For the Top 6, Eklund joins the team full time and plays with Hertl and Meier. As for Couture's line, I went with trading Dahlen, Balcers, Gregor and a pick for Alex Killorn, who is A. a solid mid 6 scorer and b. out of contract at the end of the next season. I also feel Reilly Smith would be a solid fit for the Top 6 and his cap hit will likely be affordable.

Buying out Vlasic and trading away Hill and Simek will open crucial cap space, and giving Labanc a chance to play with Bordeleau and Wiesblatt can serve as a last chance for him to stay in San Jose and a barometer of what to do with him thereafter.

Killorn has had his best 3 years of his career the last 3 on a very fair deal and this looks like a quantity over quality thing to Me

Gee Killorn goes from paying no State income tax in Florida, To paying the highest taxes in the Country in California. And why would he do that?

Tampa has just over $5 million in cap space after this season. I know the tax rate may be a turn off, but the bolts would get a solid 3rd line winger in Balcers, a potential 2nd line fit in Dahlen and depth in Gregor on top of a pick. Dahlen and Balcers could be the same cap hit as Killorn, and Gregor could be in Syracuse so it would be a financial benefit and an injection of Youth for Tampa to make the trade.

That Tampa trade is terrible for San Jose. Pay 3 young, cheap and quality players with a 3rd for 1 year of Killorn who will be 33? Why in world would this even be considered?

Making room for quality over quantity. We do lose three young RFA players, but I'd rather have the cap space they'll need used for impact RFAs like Meier, Bordeleau, Merkeley or Eklund instead. Moreover, we get an immediate injection of quality in the wings and mentorship for the young players we have on our team. Moreover, if we struggle again, we'd always have the option of trading away Killorn at the deadline.
