I have long been a proponent of a trade with Minny to bring in Brodin and a forward (Coyle, Niedereitter, Zucker) using some of the players you did. My thinking was Spooner could step into 3rd center role vacated by Hanzal and and they get some young expansion draft exempt players in Vatrano, Zboril a #1 draft pick and Colin Miller to fill their 3rd RD role. Problem is they still have 3 solid lines and one of the best group of prospects even if they lose a FW and and all the UFAs on their team. Spooner and Vatrano aren't really needed. Even without Zucker they'd have:
Parise-Koivu-Pominville
Granlund-Staal-Coyle
Haula-Erickson EK-Neiderreiter
Fnding room for Spooner and Vatrano would be difficult. They really aren't typical 4th liners as they don't play defense. They might be more willing to move Neiderreiter as he's an RFA and could have cap issues and maybe they'd want to give Eriksson EK another year to develop but it's not a given. On top of which if this was a pre expansion draft deal they'd have to expose Spooner which could leave them an iffy return.
If they don't trade a DMan they'd lose a LD. McQuaid is RD and they'd still have Spurgeon and Dumba so Quaider wouldn't be replacing what was lost just filling the 3rd pairing RD role.
As much as I want a big trade brnging in 2 quality players from Minny to alleviate their expansion and cap issues I think the best we could hope for is getting Brodin. But even then Minny could go 7-3-1 route and cut a deal or use a conditional to keep Brodin from getting picked. They'd lose Zucker or Scandella for nothing but they are going to lose a quality player for nothing regardless unless they trade them all away.
