That's pretty bad for the Canucks.

Only way I could see this working:

Canucks retain half on Myers, Devils retain half on Tatar.

That one year where Myers is under contract and Tatar is not, is a huge year for us as we will have to re-sign Severson, Graves, Siegenthaler. By retaining both, it mostly reduces 2023-24 for us. Otherwise, I don’t think it would be wise idea.

Canucks wouldn't retain on Myers, probably would be a wash for any player that replaces him cap wise. Last year of his contract is actually pretty valuable too since its 5mil signing bonus 1mil salary. Would be a good trade piece for a cheap team looking to hit the floor. Also hes been good this year, overpaid but good.

I have heard that. But we need to keep cap flexibility for 2023-24. This year and next, I think we are fine.
