Description
Lemme explain.

In exchange for Duchene, Colorado gets a decent top pairing dmam, a 6th overall draft pick a few years ago, an all star AHL dman, as well as a first rounder that is NOT lottery protected, to go with a second to sweeten things up (which VAN gets back from Columbus for the compensation of signing Torts. Vancouver then becomes damn good at center. It should be noted this comes after the expansion draft so Vancouver can protect its other guys.

Anaheim will lose Silferberg in expansion anyways, so they might as well get something for him. Vancouver takes Stoner and his contract too for Anaheim to agree.

Expansion Draft : Sedin, Sedin, Eriksson, Horvat, Baertschi, Sutter, Granlund ; Edler, Tanev, Gudbranson, Markstorm

I just don't get why Vancouver, who may/should be in a rebuilt want trade for two years of Duchene. Virtanen, Subban and the second rounder ain't much to give up, but Tanev has value as possibly a a top ten pick might have real long term value. While I think it's not a good fit for Vancouver, I kinda think the Avs may not like the trade either. They might want some good young immediate help (more than Tanev(.
Ducks would want more for Silverberg. Sure they might lose him in the draft, but with that trade they would lose one of their Dmen. Two non protected players, either an NHLer or near NHL I would think would be the minimum.

Exactly! "Oh hey, Ducks are going to lose a player for nothing! We can get him for slightly more than nothing!!!". "They're still going to lose someone for nothing..." "OMG We'll take him too!!!!!"

I'm kind of excited for the expansion draft, but I'm more excited for it to be over so that people can just go back to making crappy trades without justifying them with "EXPANSION DRAFT THO!"
