Description
In this scenario Sakic has been fired and the new GM wants to go into a full rebuild. This would give the Avs 2 Defensemen that I see as a starting point for their future top-4 and a total of 4 2nd round picks to play with. I'm a Canes fan living in Denver so I'd love to see something that works for both teams long-term futures, so feel free to critique/criticize.

    Pass, I am not sold on Bean and Fluery...seems like its a lateral moving Bigras to get one of them, so its Duchene for a D Prospect and some 2nd round picks.
    Avs pass all day long on t hat, they aren't selling him for a futures package

    There are 29 other teams in the NHL but we don't seem to get away from Duchene to Canes deal. Sure the Canes have cap space, but they are a budget team. Think all those second rounders aren't that productive for a team (the Avs) than need get some sort of immediate return for Duchene.
    You're right those great contracts and great play of Pesce and Slavin aren't being moved by the Canes. To me the most the Avs extract from the Canes would be Faulk and a youngster.
    Thought St Louis might be a fit as they need a centre, but again money would have come back to the Avs (and maybe some bad money) Possibly the Sakic can get just as much in a trade next TDL than he can this summer.
