I think that Dylan Holloway makes the team out of camp this year. He is 6'01", 203lb, has speed and his play in the NCAA last year was very encouraging.
As he's a LW, I could see Edmonton moving RNH back to centre, finally creating the three headed monster that sportswriters talked about when McDavid was drafted.
I've tried to spread out the grit and size for the forwards in the top nine. They average just over 6'01" and 196lbs (even with Yamamoto.)
To use up the available LTIR space, Edmonton needs to be as close to the cap when Klefbom is put on LTIR.
I could see something like the following:
- Sign Yamamoto, 1yr, $2.120m
- Demote Turris, Russell, McLeod, Lagesson, Benson (I have Benson lost to waivers, which wouldn't be a shock.)
- Submit roster with Klefbom
- Put Klefbom on LTIR ($199 from cap.)
- Recall Turris, Russell, McLeod, Lagesson
If nothing else, I'd suggest that people take Oiler defenders in their pools this year. They have a number of defenders that can move the puck, and have more targets to hit than Edmonton has had in years.
The Oiler see Holloway as a center, not as a winger.
And Yamamoto will get less AAV or more term, something like Dube got probably.
Longer term, I'd agree that Holloway will be a centre, but Tippet has shown he likes veterans in those roles if he has them.
I had the Yamamoto bridge deal to max Klefbom's LTIR. They need to be at the maximum of cap when he's put on to LTIR for relief. If he signs for less, Holland will have to play with the contracts to get the maximum for LTIR (I think.)
I like this lineup. Only thing is we will see how Benson is during training camp and have him instead of Shore and Lagesson sent to waivers.
I really like Benson and would hate to lose him, but I can see Tippet wanting the veteran of 326 NHL games over Benson's 7. That, and Shore is 6'01", 206lbs, and can play a checker game, which is what I expect from the 4th line.

THey are already over the cap so they will get max relief as is.
also for shuffling chairs i would rather send down bouchard as he requires no waivers. then you dont lose benson for nothing and then keep turris in the minors as no one wants him any ways.
