Trade for Johnson with Alenfelt as a sweetener (only if they think Alenfelt is ready to jump to the NHL) which gives you a cost controlled goalie for 3 years who can eventually become the starter. Hope that by giving Johnson more minutes and better linemates that he could bounce back and then they can trade him in the next offseason for a profit and keep Alenfelt. Johnson has a history of being a star, his production has dropped significantly but remember Tampa is stacked and his position on the team kept changing with Point and Cirelli coming in, he had to play the wing a bunch which isn’t his strong suit. In the playoffs Tampa put him back at center, granted he only played 4th line minutes, but was still able to score some big goals and the team played well defensively. Imo if Alenfelt looks ready, with the leafs not having anyone close in their system, and without a lot of assets to trade, take the risk. He can play PP, PK and throughout the lineup. His production isn’t due to him losing a step, he can still fly
