Description
Lines can be tampered with.

I trade to maintain alphabetical order, but I had to make changes as I went. Did some trades after the fact as well. This team has some vets and physical players that will help keep the team competitive right away. There are some prospects available that I took that have some breakout potential so Seattle can look to get players than can be their Theodore or Karlsson. The breakout guys aren't really in the lineup yet, but they'll have chance to be inserted and play more like Abramov, Clague, Kole Lind, Cale Fleury. Some of the veteran guys can be flipped later. Theres room for more offseason trades than I did or Seattle rolls on with this, but has players worth trading at the deadline to competing teams if they don't compete right away themselves.

Détails additionnels:
I have been under the assumption Giordano would be exposed, but Calgary would trade to keep him, but as it gets closer, I wonder if they would rather just free up the cap space and let Giordano walk to free up the cap space and really change the indentity of their team this year. So now I'm inclined to do that.

Détails additionnels:
Pick up a 3rd rounder for taking Domi's contract. CBJ seem like they are still willing to compete given their interest in big name Center's around the league right now, but at the same time they also seem to be half way in a rebuild. Either way it looks like they are ready to move on from Max Domi, plus it opens up 5 million in cap.

Détails additionnels:
Some would probably taking a chance on a guy like Cholowski, but Strecher is a very steady defenseman who could help the team right away, while trying to hope on Cholowski's potential is enticing, there are plenty of other young defensemen with potential available in this draft.

  1. Klefbom, Oscar
Détails additionnels:
This one Is a strategy pick that I think makes sense, but I don't know if the Kraken would do such a thing. The idea here is that Klefbom is a good defender when/if he is healthy. He's at least out all of next year. If Seattle takes him, he's a sure-fire LTIR candidate for next season so he doesn't hurt the cap at all anyway. If he is able to play the following season, he possibly plays for Seattle. IF he plays well at the beginning of that season, he could be flipped as a deadline deal or help Seattle make it to the playoffs depending on how competitive of a team they are. There is a long term strategy to this pick. I feel like its a can't lose. At worst you miss out on a decent option in Lagesson, but as mentioned before. Plenty of D-men with potential in this expansion.

IF Klefbom is not pick, I'd expect it to Lagesson as he has the most upside of the unprotected. But Klefbom creates an interesting strategy.

I debated Minnesota trading some assets to keep Kahkonen, but then came to the realization they drafted Hunter Jones to be a goalie of the future anyway. I could see a scenario where they trade some assets to keep Kahkonen, but I think Seattle will get paid more by the Caps so they don't take Vanecek anyway.

    Détails additionnels:
Carey Price is enticing, and Francis was given the ok to pick him up, but after the Driedger signing, I just can't imagine they allocate 14 mil in cap space to the goalie position. I think it would absolutely wild if they did take Price, but I just don't see it happening due to the contract.

I just can't see Seattle taking any of Nashville's bad contracts. Johanson is the only one if Nashville overpays for them to take it, but I don't think any deal happens. They use Nashville's slot to save cap for other big moves.

Rumor is Seattle takes Hagg in expansion then takes Tarasenko from the Blues. Philly gives an early pick (but not a 1st) and Voracek to Seattle for Tarasenko. Thats rumor that has been disputed by some, but double down on by others. Because it was reported it wont be a 1st, but still an early pick, I'd imagine its their 2nd rounder.

Winnipeg trades them a 3rd rounder to ensure Appleton is protected. They were looking to move Appleton before expansion, because they didn't want him to leave for nothing, but rumor is Seattle loves Demelo, which is probably why Winnipeg left him unprotected as they'd rather save Appleton. Just to ensure Appleton isn't the guy they give Seattle a little sweetener.

    1. De Haan, Calvin
    2. Strome, Dylan
    Détails additionnels:
I like this trade. Strome could be a young player Kraken build with and De Haan has a 4 mil contract. In this deal the Blackhawks gain cap to chase players this year instead of wait for those cap hits to expire next year. They get low cost cheap options in Fleury to come in and play defense, but also get Desmith who is a capable goalie as you wait for a true difference maker at goalie to emerge. This can free up the Blackhawks to really chase a big time player.

Islanders need to replace Leddy. They get Seattle to retain nearly half of Giordano's contract plus get rid of Komarov and Eberle. Seattle does this for a 1st round pick next year and a 3rd this year. This also helps opening up cap for them to chase after LAndeskog, which is being reported as an option.

Islanders don’t want to “get rid of” Bailey. Every educated Islanders fan is praying he doesn’t go this expansion draft. No thanks, not giving up a first and losing our best RW.

Yeah I was trying to figure out a Strome deal just because I thought he'd be a good player to bring in to start a franchise with. You got a deal in mind. That deal I battled with. I figured opening some cap up for them in the process would help facilitate a bigger deal for them with another team. Definitely open to suggestions.

Bad word choices there so don't get hung up on the words I chose. The reason the deal was expensive was because Giordano is being retained at almost 50%, they are also taking Komarov, and some cap space was made available. the Islanders are essentially guaranteed to lose Bailey or Eberle regardless. Its a heavy price, but you get a veteran defenseman at half price, and open up more cap to chase a big name like Landeskog who is better than Bailey of course, which was what my thinking was to the big price tag there.

I read rumors a deal was formed that would send Komarov to Seattle as well and I'd assume for Seattle to take Eberle or Bailey and add Komarov in there would need to be something going the other way to make that happen. But then it hit me a vet like Giordano wants to ensure he goes to a winning team, and with retention they felt like a nice match.

Very creative and well done but the team came out pretty poor. All the side deals looked realistic and well thought out, but this is not a playoff team imo.
