This team slaps FA expansion luck

If we take this from a realistic approach:

1) yes sign Landy

2) trade tarasenko for a second line winger and Dunn for a 1st round pick

3) Sign a 3rd LW as a stop gap before Neighbours comes in

4) Das it

You're taking a lot of discounts. We would need to offload Scandella at least, and I don't think Army will swallow his pride and look to do that. Also Army won't expose Faulk or Krug for the same reason. Dunn will be traded, like 99% sure. Tarasenko, I also believe there's legitimate redemption for him, but it sounds like he doesn't want to do it in STL, so he's likely dealt as well.

I think we've got a similar outlook of the team overall. We do not need to blow the thing up. If Vladi absolutely has to go then we just find a way to patch the hole and likely save some cap space for a depth player. Mikkola should make the roster but realistically he's a scratch. Bortuzzo isn't even really a guy I trust to be in the lineup every night. We'd need someone more reliable/proven on that bottom pairing. That why I feel it's easy to just stick Dunn in and delegate Scandella to 3rd pairing. Losing Blais sucks but isn't too big of a deal really.

I get it. Marron would have come back at under a mill, we just never offered it. I really think Bozak would be too. A lot of the other guys are still price controlled. Schwartz pay cut doesn't have to be quite that big but I think he'd come back for a little less, if not there's good free agent options. I really don't see trading Tarasenko being the net positive others think it'd be. I think it's a huge loss we don't really have to take if the price is too low. We can always trade him later (when his value likely goes up) Dunn we probably lose but maybe not, who knows, he's been in rumors a couple times now and nothing happened. And you're dead on with Scandella lol
