Description

Goals:

- Identify and keep and obtain players of character. Even if only for one or two years. Change the narrative however you can.

- Rehabilitate Jeff Skinner, get him a set up man. Domi? Voracek? Whoever, but that player must be salvaged. He cannot play on the 4th line, he is a goal scorer, put him in position to score goals!

- Weaponize cap space. Try not to bring back too much money in the Eichel trade in order to use that space to sign depth/veteran pcs than can be flipped at the deadline for picks. Also trade for bad contracts of 1 or two years for some serious draft/prospect capital since teams do not have space right now.

- Trade for players under team control for a few years.

- Probably drafting Owen Power it is good that he wants to play another year at University.

Absolutely agree on Skinner. He's not going to live up to that contract, just not going to happen. But playing him with 4th liners guarantees you get absolutely nothing out of him....possibly worse than some guys you could get for league minimum. But play him with guys who have offensive talent and he'll still fall short of being a $9M player, but maybe he performs like a $4-$5M player rather than being a waste of a roster spot.

Both players are underperforming. Both are expensive. Would PHI be willing to part with one of them for that? They have interest in Rist. This kind of trade lets them protect the players they want to protect and get something back. I think my trade is more in line with trading for 1 of those big guys but honestly, losing both guys doesn't hurt PHI that much. It gives them options moving forward.
