Goalies get paid more than what shows up on there’s Leafs pages. When was the last time a team won the cup with a veteran goalie making less than $4,000,000?

The Leafs have a 1-year window where they are paying almost nothing for a starting goalie. This provides a huge advantage.

That said, I can’t see Dermott signing for less than $2M, and the roster is short two players to get to 23. That adds at least $2.5M.

I’m also not sure that Hamilton will sign for less that $8M plus, but if he’s available for 7.5, the leafs might have a shot.
