That is a super competitive offer for Meier, not sure his value is that high after a pretty poor season. Plus he is getting 10mil in real dollars last year of his contract, that’s a lot for a team to absorb.

I think it makes sense with the term he has left and despite the poor season by his standards he's still a top line winger with great underlying numbers. I think the isles care more about his cap hit than the actual salary.

Sharks will want picks/prospects if they trade Meier since it'll probably be a rebuild.

However, that is a very competitive offer for Meier (who had a bad year). Take out the 3rd imo.

IMO you are way better off keeping Bailey and Sorokin then subtracting to add Meier. And in a pandemic world, I definitely think any team looking to add Meier will give them considerable pause having to pay out 10 mil for a guy who struggled to score 20 goals last year in a full season an only 12 this year. But I could be wrong

But Bailey is on the decline and the isles can afford to trade sorokin because they have varlamov and one of the best goalie coaches in NHL history. Im basically betting on Meier improving to the elite level he was at a few years ago, and considering he's only 24 it's not a bad bet
