Calgary All-Draft Team

Treliving has been fine at the draft, half those guys weren't drafted by Treliving. He's had 7 drafts and he's picked 43 players. 13 in the last two years which are just too early to tell so that leaves us with 30 players from 2014 - 2018, included in that group are, Bennett, Mangiapane, Kylington, Andersson, Tkachuk, Dube, Fox, PHillips, Valimaki, Ruzicka, Emilio Pettersson. 11 guys of 30 will see NHL time so he's hit on over a third of his picks with some of his better work being in the last two seasons and didn't have a 1st round pick for 2 of those 4 years.

If you don't know about Treliving's draft history, why make a point of commenting on him keeping his jobn?

Fair point, but Bennett's pick plus trading away Fox doesn't exactly help his case.

i mean buffalo only really hit on top 2 overall picks so I wouldn’t say they’re better, but yeah the flames drafting is fairly mediocre. Lack of a goalie since kipper (until marky) is a killer. The only reason we’re still afloat is a series of good trades and free agent signings (e.g. gio signed after going undrafted)

30 out of 30 teams would have taken Bennett in that position, it was a no doubt pick and he was ranked at 1 for a lot of draft analyst going into that season it was essentially a coin flip between Draisaitl and Bennett at the draft. Trading away Fox was a great move, he was either getting moved for assets or leaving for nothing, he was kind enough to give the Flames a heats up that he was never going to sign there.

You could have picked the Brouwer, Neal, Mason Raymond signing but you went with the two moves that were no doubters at the time?
