Description
NOTE: All trades are not representative of the actual returns I would expect, just merely aimed to be in the ballpark.

Additionally, some of the cap dump trades could be combined with ones for players like Meier, Labanc, or Simek to provide cap relief for the team we’re trading with.

Some other cap dump options are guys like Johnson (TBL), Moore (BOS), Holden (VGK), Lucic (CGY), DeHaan (CHI), Shaw (CHI), Okposo (BUF) or Gardiner (CAR) or Stralman (FLA)

The plan is to tank/rebuild for 2 years then try to regroup and make the playoffs by 2023-24.

Literally anywhere for futures. Keep in mind this is a very VERY rough estimate of these guys' values. Getting picks before 2023 is the objective (at least for now).

Meier ~ 1st + 2nd + 3rd
Labanc ~ 1st + 4th
Simek ~ 3rd

I would love to get rid of Couture as well but with his cap hit and M-NTC I don't see it sadly.

Neal's buyout is a reasonable 1.9mil. I don't the Oilers using a pick to dump him.

True but that buyout would also last for 4 years which is a bit of a nuisance. Would the Sharks taking on Neal and Koskinen do much? That’s like 10 million in cap savings. Could be wrong, but I can’t imagine immediate cap savings like that would be a bad thing for EDM

No I think that kind of saving they could do a lot, but they traded too many high pics already and I feel like trading more could damage their system. Most people think that Koskinen would take a pic to drop but his save% is still above .900 and that's after a tough start, he is still a quality back up. More likely they retain 1.5-2 mil and get a 4th or 5th for him.
There is also a chance that Neal goes on LTIR, he had covid just before the season started and he never fully recovered, can't play back to backs or high minutes. Sounds like it's been tough on him.

Fair point. Don't think Koskinen is that bad or anything but just thought maybe having that cap space would be a luxury. Anyway thanks for the feedback.

It's a good plan if executed. Minimize the rebuild to a 2yr span and come out of it stocked with 1st rounder prospects.
Just a nitpicky lineup decision for me would be to scratch one of Hickey/Vlasic and play Merkley (or just don't sign Demers, but I like that signing).
