Pittsburgh traded for kapanen who is 24, signed for 2 more years and an rfa at the end of his deal for a first and a b prospect.

Is 1.5 years of rakell worth more or less. They have the same amount of points this year but kapanen has played less games. I’ve seen a lot of rakell trades which in my opinion are overvaluing him. Is rakell worth more or less than kapanen? It’s also important to note that the pens were the only team that offered a first.

Rakell is worth much less because he doesn't have the term Kapanen had. Kapanen was under team control for another 3 years + a forced RFA contract at 26 years old. 2 years of Rakell simply can't compare with that kind of team control.
