Stastny is brought back as a team favorite. Ideally to help mentor Perfetti into that second line role.
That leaves just shy of $10M to hunt for a free agent. Or could the cap space be used to “rescue” another team like Colorado did with Devon Toews? Who would you target?
Putting this team together, I felt the greatest need would be a RHD who could be a PP QB. Is Erik Karlsson's contract untradeable? Perfect world would be Hamilton signing but I can't believe Carolina will let him get to free agency. Can Vatanen still fill that role? Does Ristolainen have that upside?
Jets are one of few "good" teams with cap. Not sure who they sign as UFAs, but I wouldn't put all the cap in one player. Is there a 4.5m Dman and 4.5m winger on short term deals that could really help the Jets next season.

I would think that if they signed Hamilton to a big contract, they would trade Pionk, use that cap for a winger

I agree, considering there is likely to be a flat cap again. Hoffman, Cirelli, Granlund, Strome, Haula all signed for <$5M. Vatanen and Hamonic for $2M or less.
