They're both pretty bad for the Leafs...I mean, you're trading a 1st, 2nd, 4th, and a couple of fringe prospects for 2 3rd line guys that you'll have to non-tender (Because you can't afford them), and a 3rd. If you're moving a 1st, pull a Tampa, and at least get someone that is under contract for a couple of seasons at the league minimum.

Good point. But, if the leafs were to win with these guys, all that you mentioned would be forgotten wink

They could trade Matthews for a ham sandwich and win the cup and not a **** would be given. Doesn’t make it smart.

Leafs had the opportunity to sign both players and did not. (For good reason) the idea of wasting all of these assets seems fairly horrible.
