Let's put on our imagination caps here boys and girls. You're a young, aspring GM looking to make a name for himself in the sports world. You've been offered a job by two hypothetical organizations, both in need of a new GM. Each team has it's fair share of problems, and benefits. It's your choice as to which organization you commit your future to, and try to bring a Stanley Cup to.

Remember to consider everything, not just the now, think five years down the road, etc.

I voted team 1. Building around Svechnikov, Heiskanen, Tkachuk and Eichel is fantastic. I know team 2 has MacKinnon, Dach, Barkov, and Hughes. All 4 of the guys from the 2nd team need big pay raises within the next 3 years. I know that for now Mackinnon makes less than Eichel now but in a few years that will change. Eichel has a long term contract. Hughes and Heiskanen are about even I don't have any advantage for either one. They both need big pay raises in a year. Svechnikov I would hope to sign to about 9x8 contract next offseason. That may be more than what Barkov will get in 2 years, but Svechnikov is better than he is. Dach I think will be better than Tkachuk soon but his contract will probably be bigger than Tkachuk's. Also one of the main reason's is Team 2 has Skinner, Parise, and Coyle on long term contracts that nobody wants anything to do with that. Team 1 only has Benn and Suter. Sorokin is a better goalie than Elvis and younger. Did I point out that Hamilton will probably sign a huge long term contract this offseason that won't look too good near the end of it? Same with Werenski. If this was a one year challenge it would be team 2, but I'm gonna have to go with Team 1.

Yep, Team 1 for cap reasons as well. If youre looking at it for purely 1 season, its pretty close, but as a franchise, team 1 is gonna have a lot less problems in 2 years

Wish I could take team 2 forwards and team 1 d. I just like the mix of players more. But overall I’d go team two can’t really go wrong with either.
