As a baseline, this is bad but not the end of the world. Bury Baertschi or Eriksson. If ferland can play let him play. Let Juolevi, Rafferty, Hoglander take their crack at the NHL roster. Podkolzin joins late in the season.

Key: give up no core assets and let a year lapse on Eriksson, Roussel, Beagle. Trade any or all of those three as cap dumps or as hybrid capdump/rental to contenders who need to replace injured players.

Also key: don't acquire OEL, his contract and any excess asset dumps will shorten the window for this core.

Additionally: doesn't take much of a cap dump this season, e.g. Roussel or Beagle, to open up space to offer sheet Cernak or make a deal for any other player. To be explored in a later Armchair-GM team.
