Domi to WPG makes sense because they have a hole at center on 2nd line. Depending if Little goes to LTIR or not, WPG might need to clear cap : Perreault is just a capdump. Vesalainen is a prospect with a similar (slow) developpment than Armia : 1st pick with big size but taking time to produce (comparaison from the Athletic, not from me). He's the kind of prospect that can be traded because of his low production but high potential. Overall the trade looks like Kapenen one for a better player (Kapanen was obviously overpaid)
An other option would have been Lowry instead of Perreault. While he has some trade value unlike Perreault, WPG might not want to lose a center. If it's Lowry, we wouldnt sign Thompson.

ARI is an other team that would want picks. Grabner is expendable for a team so close to cap. A line (or PK) with Byron & Grabner would flyyyyy

Kovalchuk : Gentleman agreement would mean he'll get an offer. Idc if he doesn't get it really
Thompson : Not needed if Lowry is in the trade as I said. Evans could take his spot. Reliable 4th center if there's an injury

This is not an agressive scenario at all : low risk low reward. With the 1st from Domi (or from Domi itself) we could hunter a winger (Vrana? Top 6 from CGL? 2nd or lower picks for Killorn/Johnson/Gourde?) or a LD (OEL? Brodin? Graves?)
