If Detroit wants a young, quality goaltender, all they have to do is ask Vancouver for Demko in exchange for taking Eriksson. I don't see a lot of incentive for Detroit to pass up their choice of Raymond or Rossi in exchange for Askarov.

Yeah, one's a proven NHL goaltender and the other is a prospect in the Russian equivalent to the AHL. Demko is currently miles ahead of Askarov.

There are around 7 years that separate the 2. In 7 years, probably that Askarov will have some votes for the Vezina trophy, if he's not a finalist. Demko will never have that in his career. Detroit is really not rushed to win, they are still at the start of their rebuild.

Its more about the price for MTL to move up rather than what Detroit would take to move back. Moving into the top 5 would cost one of your better prospects, not necessarily Caufield, but a guy like Harris maybe
