My take on Vancouver

Nobody is taking Sutter and Baertschi for free. Baertschi went through waivers twice.

He was over a PPG in the AHL and has only a year left now. He was constantly a 30-40+ point pace guy in Vancouver. He never should’ve been sent down to the AHL to begin with.

As a Detroit fan I'd accept the Demko trade but I don't think Vancouver would. The only way Detroit takes Baertschi is if they are being compensated for the cap dump.

I’ve seen the demko trade around here a lot so I thought I’d repost it.

I don’t know why Baerstchi is treated like a cap dump when he’s a player who should be in the NHL but is getting mismanaged by the canucks organization. He also only has one year left. I figured the fabbri gamble worked out well for the wings. This could be a similar situation of buying low on a player who isn’t getting an opportunity elsewhere. If he stinks, just don’t resign him the following offseason. Detroit has plenty of cap to take that risk next year

In my opinion Detroit would need something in addition to Demko to take on Eriksson. Goalies are a big risk and almost always fetch less than expected in a trade.
