Description
Habs need to do this the right way and focus more on long term success than short term. KK should at least start the season in Laval to fine tune his game and play big minutes in every situation. I would play him with Poehling and Ylonen. We need to allow Poehling to develop as well.

It will hurt to lose Tatar but with all the future signings we need to make someone has to go to make sure we avoid cap hell and continue to build a great young team.

With the draft picks I’m hoping to add Perfetti, Lapierre, and move a some of the 2nd rounders in order to draft Justin Barron.

2021-2022 forward lineup looks like this.

Drouin - Danault - Gally
Domi - Suzuki - Caufield
Poehling - KK - Perfetti
Lehkonen - Evans - Armia

A decision will likely have to be made on guys like Armia and Lehkonen but for now I will leave them in.

If your talking about future success, you must get rid of danault. He’s a really good centre and hopefully we can get value

I love Danaults game, I think it would take some big improvements in KK to justify moving Danault. Something to consider depending on the return.

For kk to improve he needs minutes. You don’t want danault making 6 mill keeping kk from developing or moving danault to 3c. Blow it up after this year and give the Kids minutes

Why does Danault get $6M? He could be compared to Pageau who got $5M. Lots of teams will invest $5M in a 3rd line C. The latest stanley cup winners are a good example, see Tyler Bozak.

If KK, Suzuki, etc. are ready to replace Danault, they will earn it. Until then, trading Danault doesn't make a lot of sense. Additionally, Danault is local and would actually want to play in MTL. Can't say that about many UFA's.

Danault is better but that doesn’t matter. Don’t pay 5/6 million for an aging centre. Kk has to earn it, cool, how does he earn it playing 12 minutes a night? Let danault go and give kk and Suzuki big minutes. U have to see what u have in those two
