There seems to be a pattern developing, where teams that look like solid contenders trade their 1st round picks, then completely bottom out the next year and the pick is really high. First Ottawa, now San Jose. Is there any team that seems on the verge of that this year? Any that could be vulnerable to this that we should be looking at? It's hard because all the teams in playoff spots right now look like solid teams, and everyone is like "no way they suck next year" then bam, San Jose 39 points at the halfway point. Nobody saw this coming, including San Jose, obviously. Is there a team out there right now that looks suspeptible to this?
Philly maybe? if Giroux and Varocek and JVR all hit the plus 30 wall at the same time i could see them taking a dive. Maybe not to a bottom 5 team though.
