Might be fair trade especially since Stastny looks like a cap dump. Doubt if Stastny has Jersey on his ten team "trade me to " list

Did I fall a sleep and miss the last 3 years or something because since when is Stastny a cap dump?

Well, he seem to slowed down this year, on pace for a 35 point season at age 33. At 6.25m is he really worth it next year if a team preferred stock spend that cap elsewhere?(I know it's subjective)

Ahh he brings more to the team than just points though, at his best he was only 70 point guy and that was way back in the Colorado days. I feel like people throw around cap dump too frivolously. Cap dump means a player you have to beg another team to take off your hands. (At least in my mind it is).

I guarantee if Stastny goes on waivers tomorrow he's picked up no questions asked. If you want him to score 70 points, you'll be disappointed but If you want the playoff quality cup contender style 3rd line center who can play up in the lineup if need be, he can still be that guy easily for the remainder of his contract.

Stastny is a playoff warrior and one of the best faceoff guys in the league. Moving him during the season doesn't make much sense.

They don't need to worry about cap much with Eakin being an LTIR candidate.
