TDL Overreaction - Blow it up

I am not sure if this is purely a joke or not, but as a general comment, I think that the Hawks have more than enough here (before some of these crazy trades) that a blow up is not required. They can retool, as a last resort, but a bad year last year and getting Dach at the draft, combined with the amazing development of Boqvist, gets them farther than maybe they originally thought, as far as re-energizing this team with youth.

It’s not a joke. I essentially traded away spare parts for high draft picks as rentals for playoff teams who always overspend at TDL and then there’s basically the Toews and Wahlstrom swap which is huge.

Toews can age gracefully as Tampa’s 3C and we then have Dach Wahlstrom and Strome as our backbone with an average age of like 20 years old. not to mention the Pick up of a 22 year old Cernak who is a solid, big 6’4” stay at home D.

This also opens up a large amount of cap space to sign guys like Cernak and Wahlstrom and Dach when their time comes and likely have to keep the albatross of Seabrook.

Let’s add in the fact that the Vancouver 1st could be a lottery pick or even a top 12 in what’s considered a deep draft.

Tampa can’t do this trade

For some reason when I was doing this I thought I saw they had $11M in cap space due to LTIR. I must’ve clicked on the wrong team.

The other option is, yes this one trade puts them over the cap but then that’s up to Tampa to figure out the rest. It’s not my job to make Tampa whole.
