I like the CGY trade but I don't want to use a retained salary transaction (can only have 3) for just a 3rd. I would keep the option to retain on Green and Frolik for max returns at the deadline.

He is one dimensional and his defense is awful. Additionally this past season may potentially wind up being his most productive in his career. Couple all this with DET being 3+ years from being able to compete for/in the playoffs again it is more about selling high on a valuable player.

Not trading AA for a 31 year old Frolik whom doesn't fit into our rebuild plus Kylington Detroit can get a by far better return then this. Plus more then likely the Flames 2020 1st round pick will be in the 20-25 range so no thank you.

Frolik is for cap relief which CGY needs. Frolik can then be flipped at the deadline for another pick.

Getting a 1st and Kylington for AA is a good deal for DET imo.

Getting cap relief and AA for CGY is a good deal as well as Kylington is the odd man out and they need to move Frolik for cap space to sign Tkachuk
