Description
There really aren't that many teams that have a ton of cap left when you consider roster size and who each team has left to sign. What happens if AA is on this team? I actually like this team more for this year. Better center depth isn't a bad problem.

I've got 8 dmen...so the cap situation for bonuses will be fine...also De Haad won't be playing right away. Joki can be in Rockford day 1...it won't be an issue.

Also, I'm hoping Crow plays the entire season, but history isn't pointing in that direction.

And, Still need to figure out what to do with Gus. I really don't like the idea of letting him walk away for free after the season is up. We're developing Boqvist for a reason.

Ship Gustafsson off at the TDL. Boqvist will be PP QB next season. Jokiharju needs to be in the NHL. I don't care what the analysts or coaching staff thinks, Henri Jokiharju is a Top 4 Defenseman in the NHL. He's one of the only people that can slow down McDavid on a breakaway. Jokiharju did it multiple times last season. With DeHaan and Maata, Murphy is redundant. Trade him now and tell Seabrook if he doesn't waive his NMC he won't play.

100% agree with all of this. Joki was REALLY good last year when he played against top competition. I have no clue why the "insiders" are saying he's going to Rockford for more than 1 day to make cap and send De Haan to LTIR.

I agree with you both, but I think the front office believes starting Joki in Rockford is the best thing for his development. He may have started last year off very well, but as we got further into the season his numbers dipped and he looked more irresponsible. His time in Rockford last year likely helped him quite a bit, and I think they want to make sure they do what’s best for him for years to come. To me, the perfect solution seems to be to call him up after Gus gets dealt at the deadline. For now, it’s better that he gets top pairing minutes in all situations in Rockford then get potentially hung out to dry in Chicago.

That's fair. If Gus gets dealt @ the TDL...shouldn't we want to have a backup ready in the wings? I would think Boqvist going to Rockford would be a good thing. London helped him last year get used to North American ice. Now get used to adults in the first half of the season and more specifically running an NHL (AHL) style power play. That's what he's going to be used for. No?

I agree, but that may be one year ahead of the Hawks schedule. I could absolutely see Mitchell getting signed as a Gus PP replacement at the end of the year during college FA.
