I'm quite surprised that Bowman didn't go with either Byram or Turcotte after all the best available discussion, but I'll also admit that over the past 2-3 days he started to change his tune with multiple bests...etc... That then leads me to not wanting to automatically go with the "Bowman out smarted himself again" but it's looking like it because the very next two picks...Byram and Turcotte. There was a lot of COL chatter that there were going to take Dach. I'm actually going to give Stan the benefit of the doubt here. If they really like Dach that much...I don't think they could have traded down considering the COL chatter. I also tend to think he's done a really nice job with his picks lately. Not just the 1st rounders, but deep in the draft too. So Dach isn't the fastest guy, but from everything I hear...he's still pretty darn fast. He's clearly got size and good hands. I'm not so sure I believe Stan anymore when he says best available. It really seems like he picked a position of need rather than best available. Tyler Cameron has a nice piece on Dach on Hockeybuzz. I tend to agree with him.

I'm going to cheer and root for him till the cows come home. I'm still VERY happy we won the lottery. He's needed more than Boldly.

DET Moritz Seider about 10 picks early
EDM Borberg about 6 picks early

On to other news. MTL...great pick! Caufield at 15 is a steal. Not quite a steal like Debrincat in the 2nd round, but goals goals goals. Congrats and I think despite me ripping on MB recently...he won best value pick in the draft. Thoughts???
