Description
Canucks wait-out Spooner, Sutter and Schaller contracts. Assuming Edler signs without a NMC or NTC, he gets traded in the 2019/20 trade deadline or offseason, for a late 1st Round Pick or a 2nd. And as soon as DiPietro is ready for the NHL, Jones either gets traded or bought out to make room. Until then he serves as a back-up for Demko.

2020 is a deep draft. With 4 picks (or 5, if Edler gets traded) in the Top 62, the Canucks should be able to build a good core, and that's already with somebody like Peyton Krebs drafted in 2019.

After Krebs and the 2020 draft class mature and enter the 2022/23 season, the Canucks will be ready for a deep playoff run. And hopefully win the Stanley Cup.

They've got to move Sutter. But I agree they will probably just bury Spooner. Schaller is going to replace Roussel who will be out until December, and then I expect Schaller is either demoted or moved.

Do you like the trade? I think it's good for both teams. The Canucks help the Sharks with their cap, and give them a much better goalie. The Sharks allowed too many easy goals in the playoffs, Markstrom will be a huge help in the back-end. He was a wall for the Canucks for most of the season. On top of that, the Canucks give them the 4th round pick to sweeten the deal. Since they'd have to give up Roy (who I don't think they need, since their D is stacked), a 2nd and 7th (or 4th, if Markstrom re-signs).

That trade is terrible for the Sharks. Jones is better than Markstrom even with an off year. Roy is still a good defensive prospect despite the injury he had. Plus we give up two picks and one is a 2nd? I'd rather just ship out Braun for a pick.

You're telling me a guy, who played with possibly the best D in the NHL, and had a GAA of 2.96 and SVS% of 0.896 is better than Jacob Markstrom, who pretty much was a wall for the Vancouver Canucks. And despite all the efforts from the Canucks to tank, he was still single-handedly winning us games. The nucks had the worst D in the NHL, after Ottawa. If he played for the Sharks, Blues or the Flames, he would be a contender for the Vezina. And dude, Jeremy Roy's AHL numbers aren't all that great, he is a project. It will be at least another season or two before he's ready for the NHL. Also, it isn't like the Sharks need him anyways. And I added the 2nd because that Jones cap-hit could be a major pain in the ass for a long time, especially if he continues the way he's playing. If he couldn't get it done with the best D in the NHL in San Jose, he isn't going to do it with the dumpster fire of a D in Vancouver. The 2nd round pick is insurance. The 7th (or 4th) is just there, if Markstrom signs long term.

But anyways, if Wilson still isn't happy with my offer, we could always add another 4th (in 2021). Or maybe he'd be interested in taking back Goldobin. He is cheap, scores 30+ points a season and can shoot. He sucks defensively though, but he is a good Bottom 6 forward.
