Fact one, I have put several rosters on here and they all have one thing in common. Lots of trades.
Fact two, trades are hard to do in a cap system.
Fact three, Montreal needs to make some trades, and have to move several players because they have too many wingers, and forwards in general.
Fact four, Montreal needs some help on the left side of their D.
Fact five, although Kotkaniemi may get there at some point shortly down the road, Montreal needs a number one center. Domi put a great effort in last season but I think
he is still better suited for the wing with a number one center.
Fact six, Price is not getting any younger and the time to win is now.
Fact seven, this exercise is highly ineffective because this job belongs to MB to construct the roster but, I'm bored so here we go again....lol
Current wingers on the Roster:
Brendan Gallagher, Tomas Tatar, Andrew Shaw, Paul Byron, Jonathon Drouin, Jordan Weal, Charles Hudon, Joel Armia, Artturi Lehkonen, Nicolas Deslauries, Matthew Peca, Dale Weise
Thats a total of 12 wingers.
That along with 5 centers, for a total of 17 forwards either under contract or RFA's. Players like Evans and Suzuki will be also looking to make the big club come training camp so there is
no doubt a log jam up front.
Now the big problem with this is that currently there are very few top line talents in this group. There is a bunch of middle six forwards and a few 4th line guys but true top line talent is
lacking. There maybe some youngsters that may get there but they aren't there yet....IMO
So lets make some trades and upgrade our left side D and maybe just maybe get some top line talent through some trades or UFA's.
Signing Matt Duchene to seven years @ 8.25 Million per. There is risk here for sure but we need a number one and Duchene will give us a semi first line center. Like I said Risky!
Fact 8: if you spend so much time building a roster make sure your trades are at least a bit reaslitic, especially the one where you trade for a young No 1 D.
To get Lindholm you would have to start with one of Mtl A prospects (ex Suzuki) and the 1st 2019.
Fact eight : All the players you moved, except maybe Armia and Juulsen, have little to no value. No teams will want any of them. Especially Anaheim if you ask Lindholm in return.

Ahah lol you stole my 8th point, although you 100% right.

Yeah there's nothing enticing about that for Anaheim, they have no reason to go through with that trade. Even if they're rebuilding, 25 year old defensemen on good contracts that can play though minutes don't grow on trees.
Also, I think Kotkaniemi is sneaky great. Him and Gallagher could play on one of the better defensive lines in the league. There was a case to be made for giving Kotkaniemi Selke votes the season that was.
Duchene is a good complement for him, since he's basically the opposite in terms of defense/offense
