I think the best chance in keeping trouba long term is with Buff being traded. In a lot of ways it has hindered his development as a bonafide 1 RHD. It wasn’t until this past season when buff went down long term that he took his opportunity and ran with it.

Yes that has a lot to do with it, Trouba wants to be the man and he has certainly capable of it. Buff has 2 years left and with his health in question I see a diminishing role occuring, but if Chevy traded Buff this city would riot.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Buff traded this summer but it won't have anything to do with signing Trouba long term..

All NHL Insiders have said that Trouba is gone, It doesn't have anything to do with being the man in Winnipeg. But more to do with his Dad being banned from entering Canada. So he can't watch him play. Plus his own agent Kurt Overhardt pretty much said back in 2016. That Jacob wants to be near his family in Michigan.
