Please remember that we don't do stupid things like trading 1st overall for a 2nd line center, an underachieving former 1st overall pick (who hates playing 2 way hockey). if Shanahan and Co did that they would be fired before the trade was finalized. But for agreement sake let's say they were to trade down to 4th overall here is what they would want. I hope a certain poster sees this and realizes that Matthews would have been drafted ahead of Eichel last year not after and that they will not make the mistake of trading the most complete center since Teows for what you seem to think is market value just to put Tkachuk on this team.

I like the trade, but the Leafs would only get McDavid and not the fourth overall pick from Oilers too. Leafs can wait 6 years and sign McDavid as a UFA.happy

I don't think that is even in the stratosphere of what McDavid is worth. EDM would want significantly more than JVR+Bozak+Hunwick for the 4th....

The deal would need to be 1st OA, Rielly, top prospect for McDavid. That is a consensus everywhere. He is that good.

This post was cause someone thought we would take Just Nugent Hopkins, Yackalot, and the 4th overall for 1st overall Bozak, and some prospects. I was just putting a ridiculous trade to counter his ridiculous trade

But that original offer isn't all that bad. Just not something TML should do. This trade is really bad.
