Just offer sheet him at 5.5mx5 years. It would cost you 1st and 3rd round pick but you won’t break up your d core and that dollar amount would be high enough the leafs wouldn’t match it. At least I don’t think they would.

I think the Pesce window may be closed. He’s been too steady in our top 4 and his offense is coming around. $4M/yr for another 5 is too valuable to pass up.

Aside for the obvious Hall-for-Larsson-2.0 risk, adding Pesce and is $4M cap hit just exacerbates Toronto's cap problems, and virtually requires the Maple Leafs to move both Kadri and Zaitsev. The only way acquiring Pesce makes sense is if one of those two or Nylander goes the other way. I think that there are better options.

Fair enough, If I had to guess I', sure the leafs will move players to prevent an offer sheet from stealing anyone for just a few draft picks. I just see a log jam on the canes defence on both sides LHD and RHD especially with fox in the mix soon. Faulk and Hamilton are good no offence just not the right fits for me on the leafs.
