Here it is better get used to it
Beck can't play in the AHL next year due to his age.
Mesar can because he was drafted out of Europe but I think he could use another year in Junior....hopefully MTL can entice Kitchener to trade his rights to a better team .

Trying to pry the window open
I was initially going to crap all over this AGM.
But the more I look at it....it ain't so bad.
I'm completely against rushing rebuilds but Laf and PLD fit within the age group of a rebuild, specifically for the habs.
The only asterisk I would put on this AGM is ...
* let's see what LAF does in the playoffs this season. I don't think at this point he's worth a 5OA.
* DONT TRADE WIFI AT ALL

Offre Hostile Boston
Why are habs fans so bent on rushing our prospects????
Maillioux, Farrell, Roy and Heinneman should all be starting in Laval next season. I would even go as far as adding Slafkovsky and WiFi to that list as well.
Let them develop and stop trying to rush the rebuild.

If ever he has a stellar training camp, he could take Barron's spot, but the best decision would be to send him to Laval and let him play with Struble on 1st D pairing.</div></div>
I think Trudeau would be a better partner.

Not sure that slaf starts in laval but i agree he has to have a good camp to stay up..... God laval is going to be a good team next year.</div></div>
I'm not knocking on Roy but he's playing in one of the weakest junior leagues.
There is no way he makes the team out of camp unless he's lights out superstar in camp.....
Hoffman is not blocking anyone at this point
Neither is Pitlick
Be patient in the rebuild process
Let these two play, bring up their value and then trade them for as much value as you can when the time is right
The time isn't right now
Let the kids play in Laval
Let them develop together
Win together
Lose together
And bring that culture to Montreal together

Ending rebuild sooner
The Jets deal would require a roster player going to Wpg and seeing as they would be very thin on C if PLD is traded, Dvorak is the most logical choice.
I agree that rushing a rebuild is never a good idea however, I don't consider adding PLD as rushing the rebuild but rather adding to the core of the future as his age (24), fits right in line.
Armia will be bought out.
Wideman sent to Laval.
Gurianiv doesn't get signed .
Hoffman, Gally and Pitlick stay to boost value and perhaps trade down the line.
Also I think Slafs and Belzile are in Laval to start the season

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>danielcoe</b></div><div>dvorak probably doesnt get traded as he has too much money owed and st. louis like him... maybe at the deadline but maybe not at all as you need 5 centers not four with our injury history.
also you got 4 small forward in caufield and gally and farrell and harvey... i think they only want three in the lineup so if gally is healthy je starts the season and farrell goes to laval to develop and when gally gets hurt you can brring him up.. Farrell needs more time for sure.... Most ready are Roy and Beck and maybe Heinemann but only 2 will make it out of camp the other starts in laval..
You keep Dvorak and Gally and Anderson as the veteran forwards just like you keep matheson and savard on defense</div></div>
I think you're almost right in what you mention
But where I disagree is that I believe all of Roy, Heinneman, Slafs, and Farell start in Laval next season. Beck, along with Mesar will spend another year in junior in my opinion.
Dvorak only gets traded in a deal with Wpg for PLD
If not he continues with the habs until trade deadline like you mentioned.
Same goes for Hoffman and Pitlick who I believe will both be on the opening night roster next season
The point I'm trying to make here is that, yes the team is getting younger but the habs can't rush their development which means we will continue to see veterans on the team in the nest two years as we let the kids play in laval, prove themselves and then get called up as warranted.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Oh look the exact same quote from Caufield in that article too
“I don’t think there’s any rush on either side,” Caufield said of the negotiations. “It’ll get done when it gets done. It’s something I’m not too worried about. My focus is on rehab and trying to get better. I’m trying to put (the contract) in the back of my mind, but for sure I think about it every now and then.”
Caufield stressed he’s not concerned, nor should he be, given his bargaining power. “The deal’s going to get done when it does.”
You just proved my point on how ridiculous your thread is! Not being close to a deal is waaaaayyyy different than "butting heads" and "both won't resign with their respective teams" BS.
Caufield is literally saying in both articles that a deal will get done.</div></div>
Let me just add a comment to this ridiculous rumour.
In the same montrealhockeynow article, Caufield himself says he hasn't proven anything yet even goi6as far as pointing out that he has yet to play a full season in the NHL.

#1. It would be MTL 2923 1st not 2024 if done before the draft. If done after the draft then it would be MTL 2024 unprotected 1st round and the chances of WPG letting that happen are very slim....they will strike a deal before that happens
#2. If someone on an internet chat board is able to get under your skin this much you should be the one to leave because what's going to end up happening is he'll fund a way to make you break the rules of conduct and get yourself suspended or expelled. Just ignore.

William Smith (U.S. National Development Team)

Lets start a discussion
Rather than comment on the trade itself....
I'm baffled as to why hab fans think we need a game changing goalie right now in year 1 of the rebuild?
During a rebuild you don't build from the net out.
This thinking is so out dated.
Look at teams like TB, COL, STL,
You build up your forward core and put an offense first team together. This way in year 3 or 4 of your rebuild you can capitalize on some of your forward assets and get maximum value in return where otherwise you wouldn't if they played a defensive structure.
Go to YouTube and look at Hughes phone call to Dach during the draft. He said
.."you're going to come here and play some offense"
Habs don't need a goalie right now
They need
1. To get rid of bad contracts in Armia,, Hoffman, Dvorak, Edmonson and Savard ( and to a lesser extent Evans, Pitlick, Allen)
2. Start bringing up the youth in Slavs, RHP, Yolen, Farrell and even Gurianov.
3. Capitalize on guys like this when they're reaching career highs in 1-2 years to obtain positions of need (ie. Goaltender)

Also the rest of the trades are very far off.
Also I never said I knew more than Friedman. Did Friedman say that was the package for Dubois? I can guarantee you he did not.</div></div>
Friedman has said exactly this.
The package would definitely include Florida's 1st.
A roster player, most likely a center
And a high end prospect
So the only thing that I may have wrong is Norlinder.
Other than that it's pretty much what I believe will play out.

So I guess you know better than one of the best and respected hockey insiders?
I've said it many times here before and what Jets fans don't seem to understand is that PLD and Hughes are in complete control on this.
1. If the Jets look to make a deal with ANY other club, that club is going to ask to speak to PLD before any deal is finalized given the rumors of him wanting to come to the Habs. No team is going to give up what the Jets will be looking for if they'll only be getting PLD for one year and then lose him for nothing in return as a UFA.
2. Given the point above, and the fact that Hughes knows that the Jets are desperate to at least get something/anything for PLD....he can play the waiting game and then low ball the offer. The longer the Jets hold off....the offer starts to become lower and lower.
If/when Hughes pulls off this trade it will be considered the steal of the century

This PLD trade is wrong in so many levels.
1. Any deal for Dubois has a center going to Wpg.
2. While wpg is not in the driver's seat on any deal for Dubois they're also not going to give him away for nothing. A 1st. Needs to also be going back to wpg.
3. No way Hughes trades for PLD and then only signs him for 3 years. Think 8 year contract at 9m

An overpayment for PLD is nothing to worry about for Hughes. There's significant contracts coming off the cap for the next five years. Also the cap will significantly raise 2 to 3 years from now. Overpayment for a core piece for the next 8 years while you rotate in youth on other positions is of no concern for the habs and ghats how dynasties are built...ie Pens, Hawks, Bolts,
