<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>Honestly I don't see how this trade makes sense for either side. Florida's right in the middle of their cup window, and Ekblad's a crucial piece of that, so I don't know why they'd consider moving him. Seattle's competitive timeline is farther out in the future, so trading for a rental defenseman doesn't really add up for them either. Not to mention, the Kraken have a good defensive group already but have a need for more scoring up front. Trading one of their top scorers for a blueliner, even one as good as Ekblad, would be counterproductive.</div></div>
FLA gets rid of a guy that is oft-injured with a high cap hit. This allows them to re-sign other guys and add a 20-goal guy that could be a 30-goal guy in the FLA top 6 imo + recouping some picks lost via trades the last few seasons.
SEA adds a top pairing defenseman that would solidify their d-core. They add Stephenson via FA as well who only had 8 less goals than Bjorkstrand over the past two seasons— and Ekblad had 18 over that time period. So they’re technically adding more goals with these moves.
That’s the basic premise. I just FLA should consider moving Ekblad and that Bjorkstrand is an interesting option for them.

If Saros comes with an extension, gotta think NSH would be looking at the 2024 1st instead of 2025. But that may change the structure of your proposed deal more than just swapping those picks.

VGK would likely ask for more, but I don’t think he’s untouchable.
I don’t really see why PIT would consider that deal. It would need to be completely reworked imo.

Only gripe - Mercer ought to get a 2/3-year bridge or a long-term deal. A four-year contract walks him straight to UFA.</div></div>
I originally wanted a 6 x $4.5m or so but couldn’t fit that in with the Amadio and Trenin signings, so I opted for shorter term. I thought 4 would take him to his final year of RFA, with the plan being either sign him long-term or trade him in his final year. So for this attempt, a 2-3 year bridge deal would work the best.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>they aren't spending 4.5 million for a guy to play 3rd pairing.
Forsberg trade not happening. If they move Jarry out they aren't bringing back cap in a goalie.
Then you end up wasting another 2.5 mil on Brossoit that they don't need.
Just so bad, shows you don't know the team.</div></div>
lol
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bee</b></div><div>8.5 million on the bottom pair you should use that money to improve the forwards</div></div>
Definitely not ideal. I’d consider trading Graves and keeping POJ, but Graves trades are normally met with hostility on this site so I kept him. I’m just not a big fan of this team defensively and tried to add some players that could help out with that— making three d pairs that could go out in nearly all situations.
Edit: I wanted to add Amadio as well, but went with McNabb instead. But if that deal doesn’t happen, then Amadio could be added at a 3x$2.75m or something like that.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>genothegoat</b></div><div>just keep poj anyways vegas would never do that also no need to sign brossoit, blomqvist needs a callup and him and ned would be a solid tandem</div></div>
I’m not a fan of rushing goalies. He only has one year in the AHL. He’s putting up great numbers, but I still wouldn’t rush him at just 22. Keep him there for another season and call up during the year as needed.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bast</b></div><div>Sell me on Joseph. Because the Flames will have a bunch of D-men fighting for the 4–7 spots: Miromanov, Kylington, Pachal, Hanley, Solovyov, Poirieir, Kuznetsov Grushnikov, and Okhotiuk. They all require waivers except Kuznetsov, Grushnikov, and Poirier.
With an outside shot that one of Brzustewicz, Jurmo, or Morin pops in training camp.</div></div>
Honestly just chose CGY as they appear to be adjusting their d-core so this gives them a young guy they can try out at minimal cost. Among the guys you called out, he at least has the most experience over the past two seasons I suppose. If the VGK deal doesn’t happen, id just keep POJ.

How to re-sign Marchessault and Hanifin
This feels like the summer VGK could pull the trigger on a Karlsson deal. That way they can keep their defensive depth while also re-signing Hanifin and Marchessault. Roy can play 3C.

Feels like an easy accept by NSH. If it doesn’t work out, NSH could likely trade him with an additional 50% retention for at least a 3rd. So changing a 4th to a 3rd sounds like a no-brainer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Viqsi</b></div><div>Probably works for the Jackets although a 2nd would be preferred and possibly doable with other teams.</div></div>
I’ve seen a lot of varying value on Boqvist on this site, anywhere from a late 1st to a 5th, so I went in the middle.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>We’ll take glass and we should even be avle to outbid that for Tomasino. How does Heineman + Ylonen sound?</div></div>
I prefer the versatility, size, and experience of Luostarinen more. If Tomasino ends up having more value, I’d just try to get a mid pick out of FLA in the deal. I think Luostarinen is a player that could really excel in NSH. And Tomasino just seems to be bouncing around, so give him a fresh chance elsewhere.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>If we can’t resign Henrique, I would take Glass in Edmonton! That is a very interesting deal for Florida… Tomasino was very good in the OHL. I would like to say they would take that. Gives them cap to do some resigns, and gives them a good young project, that could turn into one hell of a player.</div></div>
Would a $2.5m cap hit not be too much for EDM?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>You see the issue here right? Necas will end up with 65-ish points again this year. Evangelista would be lucky to his 40 from here. The price for such a substantial upgrade will be expensive. You have Saros, and everyone knows that Trotz was willing to move Askarov at the draft last year. It's as likely Necas finds a form of consistency and hits 80-90, hell maybe even 100 if Rod doesn't come back as it is for Evangelista to hit 60, or L'Heureux to hit 50. This seems more like a misunderstanding of Necas on your part than an overvalue on my part</div></div>
It’s as likely that Necas hits 100 points as it is for Evangelista to get 60… ok I’m gonna bow out on this one. No point in continuing if this is what you actually believe. Just keep him then lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Why wouldn't they? Necas is a 70 point player and Nashville needs scoring, still sitting outside the top 10 in that regard while being solid across the board elsewhere. Necas improves them, Carolina get good young players back for their dynamic winger, where's the issue here?</div></div>
He has one season of 71 points and may not even hit 60 this season. Evangelista could be that same 60-70 point player and they keep one of, if not the best goalie prospect + a potential 50 point middle 6 agitator in the process. Necas is good, but he’s not a game breaker by any means and NSH doesn’t need to trade their best young players for a player like Necas. I’d much rather keep the younger players. I’m not opposed to trading for Necas, but this proposal would be a no from NSH. Just because NSH is having a good season doesn’t mean Trotz is going to blow it up by trading a bunch of young guys to try and win now.

The connections between the NSH organization and the SJS prospects are interesting, but there is no chance this deal ever occurs. Both NSH prospects are two years younger and L’Heureux is the most promising prospect involved in this trade. Just no real incentive for NSH to consider this deal. I prefer L’Heureux to Bordeleau and Schaefer to Wiesblatt.

Trading Saros for a LHD prospect doesn’t make sense for NSH. They would be looking at Centers and RHD, in that order. And taking on Husso is a pure cap dump which should be reflected in the trade, which I currently don’t believe it is.

Gotta think NSH would’ve kept Trenin at that price. Same with Carrier— I doubt he goes for that contract in a worse tax state on a much worse team.
